Aspi Chinoy commenced practicing law at the Bombay High Court, the Supreme Court of India & other High Courts in the year 1977. He has been designated as a Senior Counsel.

His practice has been focused on Constitutional / administrative law cases and he has appeared in a number of cases of considerable public importance.

Over the last 10 – 15 years, he has also participated in a number of International Commercial arbitrations held in London (ICC, LCIA) and in Singapore (SIAC).

He has appeared in the Dwarkadas Marfatia’s case relating to the applicability of constitutional limitations on the role of the State/ Public Authority as a Landlord; the Vodafone taxation case – which resulted in the retrospective legislation to tax overseas transfers of shares/control of an Indian company; holding Political parties accountable for public losses caused by calling & enforcing “Bandhs” and the challenge to the Maharastra Amendment Act of 1995 prohibiting the possession & consumption of Beef.

He has also appeared in the BALCO case (which resulted in a much needed course correction from the Bhatia Judgement) and in a number of Petitions challenging/ defending domestic Awards and in a number of Petitions seeking / enforcement of Foreign Awards.
